Reptilian creatures with buoyant, spiked shells. Females are muted in colour, and males are brighter with pronounced spikes.

Details
- Size: Large, capable of carrying wagons; males display flamboyant colours.
- Aggressiveness: Docile and cooperative when trained.
- Rituals/Behaviour: Lay eggs in shallow water; young are aquatic until their shells mature during adolescence. Adults are primarily land-based but retain swimming ability.
- Defence: Spiked shells provide natural defence; they also kick or bite when threatened.
- Diet: Aquatic vegetation and swamp grasses.
- Habitat: Swampy areas, especially near Portcall.
- Societal Structure: Solitary or in small groups; many are domesticated.
